In a remote African desert, an archaeologist searches for fossils of early man. But a surprise waits for Dr. Adam George deep in the earth. It is an unknown object that begins a journey toward a startling revelation. Then people start dying around him, their deaths seemingly linked to the discovery. Soon the list of people aware of the mystery find is as narrow as George's escapes. Is the revelation of that object an enlightenment, a warning, or both? About the Author: B. Bates has seen the world. Born in Albany, Georgia, he's lived in California, Virginia, Colorado, Maryland, Alabama, Guam and Germany. He graduated from the University of Georgia. While serving in the United States Army, he was stationed overseas in Vietnam, Okinawa and Korea.

Three years ago, Dr. Adam George unearthed a hominid lower jaw fragment that dated to 3.5 million years old. Ever since, he's been hoping to find something even better. The task seems impossible.
Yet, with only a few hours before he's set to quit for the season, the crew comes upon something strange. The object appears metallic but that's not possible, the excavation is taking place below the level where the 3.5 million year old find was discovered. Moreover, the object appears to be imbedded into the surrounding bedrock so there is no evidence of disturbance.
In utmost secrecy, the object is brought back from Africa to the United States where the professor begins his analysis. The answers are mind boggling. The item is indeed metallic but of an unknown substance, a material that seems to become translucent when exposed to sunlight.
I really liked the overall concept and the presentation of this story. There were a couple of places where I would have liked a bit more detail or where the action was a little too sudden. Still, definitely worth picking up. |

The discovery was made in Africa. Archeologist Adam George had no idea what he had found, but he knew he must keep it a secret for now. When the object was placed in sunlight, it would glow. The object seemed to draw energy from the sunlight. Somehow, word of the object had leaked out, and someone was desperate to get his or her hands on it. What is this mysterious object? Where did it come from? What effect could it have on the world, as we know it?
The Crystal Pyramid has a fascinating plot. An ancient artifact has a message for humanity, but is it too late? Does humanity want to hear the message? I found the action to be a little understated. This story could have profited from hyperbole exploits. The story would appeal to more people if the characters were larger-than-life. However, the message was still there. Fans of science fiction will enjoy The Crystal Pyramid.
